' अरिहंत ' पाणबुडीचे वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे आण्विक इंधनावर चालणारी ही भारताची पहिली पाणबुडी आहे . ६ हजार टन वजनाची ही पाणबुडी ११० मीटर लांब आणि ११ मीटर रुंद आहे . ' अरिहंत ' वर १०० खलाशी आणि सैनिक राहू शकतात आणि ती एकाचवेळी ९० दिवसापर्यंत कार्यरत राहू शकते . ' अरिहंत ' ची मारक क्षमता ७०० किलोमीटर एवढी आहे . आण्विक इंधनावर चालणारी पाणबुडी असणारा भारत हा जगातला सहावा देश झाला आहे . युद्धसज्जतेच्या दृष्टिकोनातून ' अरिहंत ' भारताची आण्विक शस्त्राबाबतची विचारधारा आणखी मजबूत करते . कारण आण्विक इंधनामुळे ' अरिहंत ' ची क्षमता भारताच्या पारंपरिक पाणबुड्यांपेक्षा अनेक पटीने वाढली आहे . त्यामुळे जर भारताला एखाद्य

Xinjiang: China’s Achilles Heel In yet another episode of ethnic violence, more than 180 people have died in the riots in China’s minority province of Xinjiang. At the same time, the death toll is bound to rise as more than hundred are critically injured according to the official media. Besides the death count, these riots have left about a thousand injured and led to a massive destruction of property in the Urumqi and Kashgar. The riots took place after a protest march by ethnic Uighur people. The protestors were demanding justice for the two Uighur workers who died during the ethnic clashes with Han workers in a toy factory in the Guangdong province in June. These clashes were caused by rumoured atrocities by Uighur workers that were never proved. The violent conflict between the majority nationality Han and the minority Uighur is an important issue in itself but more than that, it is a symptom of a larger problem that the People’s Republic has at its hand.
